If you're visiting Camden, be sure to take the road up to the top of Mt. Battie. While there is a very good trail for hiking, my lazy body prefers the comfort of her air-conditioned truck. There is a fee and it's higher for non-residents than residents, but it's still not much.  At the top, climb the tower to get an absolutely beautiful view of Camden Bay and the sailboats around the islands. Great place for a picnic (go to the Camden Deli for just what you want!)

One of my favorite quiet spots is in Corea; it's a tiny village that reminds me of how all of the coast of Maine north of Portland used to be. Corea has a beautiful beach, which offers a great place to put in a kayak. I've been here many times and there have been, at most, five people on the beach, even on a hot day.
